Episode written for Wondery's podcast, Little Stories Everywhere.

"Maya and Rachel have the best chocolate chip cookie recipe in the world. Scratch that — in the whole GALAXY. And the Milky Way Bakers Society thinks so, too! In fact, they've selected Maya and Rachel to compete against the 7 other planets in the solar system in a Cosmic Cookie Showdown. Will the sisters be able to crumble the competition? Ready...set... showdown!"

But mom, it actually is a phase! A person’s cognitive processes rapidly evolve between the ages of 12–18. Understanding how a teenager’s brain develops can help writers craft compelling young adult characters that speak to the hearts of readers. In this lecture, we’ll cover how teenage readers use their brains, how we as writers can shape our YA characters to reflect our readers, and how those characters’ choices have the power to resonate with teenage readers long past the final chapter.
